Book Condition Ratings
Books are rated as New or Used.
Used books are divided into the following categories:
- A - (Near Fine) Nearly new. Clean, free of defects; may have been read once and shows only the slightest wear.
- B - (Very Good) Minor cosmetic defects, but no tears.
- C - (Good) Spine may show more signs of wear, but pages are not missing.
Books which do not meet at least a C rating will not be listed on the Plumfield website; we are committed to providing quality books at low prices for our guests.
With used books, listing photos are of the actual item you will receive.
Choosing the Right Books for Your Reader
We offer a variety of ways for you to locate the right books for your young reader. Shop by Genre or by Reader's Age to begin with. Our goal is to provide wholesome books in our collection; even so, not all books are right for all readers. You know your young reader best, and we encourage you to read book reviews on titles you are not familiar with, prior to making your purchase.

Donations
We gladly accept donations of new or gently used children's books. Books should be free of major defects - including mold or water damage, odor (i.e. smoke, etc.), writing, excessive yellowing (foxing), or tears.
Donations can be dropped off during our local order pickup hours, Thursdays 10am - 12pm (closed on major holidays), or by appointment. Thank you!
Shipping
Free local pickup is available on Thursdays, 10am - 12pm (closed on major holidays), or by appointment. Select this option at checkout if you find yourself in the greater Raleigh-Durham, NC area and would like to avoid the shipping charge on your order.
Free Shipping in the USA is included with Plumfield Children's Bookstore Memberships.
If your order contains a 'Special Order' item (look for an 'Availability' note in the listing), we will hold your total order until the special order item arrives, and then ship your total order to you all together. If you need your other items sooner and you are located in the greater Raleigh-Durham, NC area, you are welcome to pick up the in-stock items from your order during our Local Pickup hours.
We ship worldwide via USPS. If you do not see your country listed on the checkout page, please contact us for a shipping quote.
Tracking is included with all packages.
Returns
Please Contact Us if you would like to return a new, unused item within 30 days of placing your order, and we will be glad to help.
If we made an error in your order, please let us know and we will work to correct it in a timely manner.
Regretfully, we are unable to offer refunds for used items.
