From the publisher:

Buck Evans and his friend, Joe Sullivan, were farm boys living in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Every summer they earned money by picking and selling the blueberries growing wild on the Pocono barrens. Then they discovered that bigger ones were grown commercially and sold at far higher prices, and they determined to have their own blueberry farm. Their venture brought them hard work and plenty of obstacles, including thieving mountaineers, a roaring spring flood, and an attempted murder. They had fun, too, and the best of it came from the success of their self-reliant efforts to earn a living.
